Tkam blog post: chapters 10-11: Mrs.Dubose

Well that finch boy has just passed by my house and I sure gave him a good verbal lickin', I sure did. He probabaly is fuming about the things I said but he knows I'm right. Thats probabaly the thing that most upset him is that he knows that the things I said about his family are right. Well I told him that his daddy is a piece of trash, and a Negro lover because he is trying to protect that Negro trash in the court house, but then again, if Atticus Finch don't do it, who will? In a way that finch is a saint and a sinner. Saint cuz' he gots the courage to stand up to the rest of em' and that white trash Bob Ewell and still hold his ground for the threats he's bound to face. But he's a sinner in the way that he's protectin' a Negro from conviction of rape which he probably did do. I say, if he done do it, let him face hell, but he don't, he don't.

Them finch kids be runnin' around like a pack of wild animals, Atticus don't got them in line. He needs to employ the switch, with them hooligans. the girl is wearin' rags for overalls and a shirt that Jeremy should be wearin'. If they were my chillun' they'd be blck and blue with all the beatin's that I would've given um'. Theys mother would;ve kept um' in line. She was one of the finest women who ever stepped on this blessed earth. Atticus had an angel under his arm. He was lucky for a woman like her. That boy Jeremy looks like her more and more every day.

That finch boy got in trouble for tearin' up my camellias today. That wrathful child got revenge on me for tellin' him the truth about his god forsaken family. But his time I might've gone too far. First, I started off with the usual why are you out on the streets, and you shouldn't be dressed like that routine. Then I went on to the subject of his father. He saw that that insult went home, them I went on to the subject of his family's sanity. He seemed really upset by that, and when I had my back turned, he attacked my garden. His father made him come back and apologize to my face but he said it through gritted teeth. So now that disgraceful child has to come back and fix my camellias especially my snow-on-the-mountain. As well as entertain me by reading, cuz' that uneducated trash Jessie is illiterate.

  1. Janie, this is really good. You fit Mrs. Dubose perspective perfectly. I like how you kept that she was really mean. I think your entry would improve if you put something along the lines of "Dear Diary", etc. Great job, just watch out for caps.
