These couple chapters of the book have to do with Petra and Tommy, Calder's friends. Calder's father sent for them to come from the U.S. to help him look for Calder, since they know Calder better than anyone. Petra and Tommy came with a chaperone named Mrs. Sharpe, who is an elderly woman with no patience for children.
Tommy and Petra dislike each other greatly and if it wasn't fro Calder's disappearance they would want nothing to do with each other. Petra feels that Tommy doesn't understand her and vise versa
but since they were sne there together they have to work together to find their beloved friend.
My personal favorite character is the girl with the long skinny legs that took Calder's picture by the statue. She is my favorite because she seems so clever and and interested in Calder. and she also reminds of one of my really good friends. She also seems witty and sharp, with an eye for detail.
